Notebook Runner Harness Audit

Scope

This audit covers the new monitored notebook batch-runner surface:

  • uv run repo-rag run-notebooks
  • make notebook-report

The goal of this turn was to replace the ad hoc shell nbconvert loop with a repo-native utility that streams progress, captures raw notebook logs, writes executed notebook copies to ignored artifacts, and emits structured plus human-readable run reports.

Notes

  • The new runner writes executed notebook copies under artifacts/notebook_runs/<run-id>/executed_notebooks/ instead of modifying the tracked source notebooks in place.
  • Per-notebook raw logs now live under artifacts/notebook_runs/<run-id>/logs/, and the final Markdown report summarizes notebook duration, output count, executed-copy path, and linked notebook log artifact for each notebook.
  • The local worktree contained unrelated documentation and benchmark edits before this notebook harness work; this audit only reflects the monitored-runner surface added in this turn.
